Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and yourn!
Hello people!
I'm up visiting my family in Ohio for the holidays, so I thought this would be a good time to post some Ohio-related what-not.
A little over a year ago, I asked many of my friends and family from Ohio to help me make a video for my song "When I Go Back to Ohio". I got some amazing and hilarious submissions and I've spent the last year on and off (OK... mostly off) editing them together.
A year later, the kids have grown and changed and we lost family friend Barb Z. who rocks it out in the video. I'd like to think she would be happy with her cameo though!
But I think this captures the idea behind the song pretty well and I'm happy with the result. Much thanks to all-around-cool-dude Cody Newman for making a rockin' intro and to Mom, Dad, Susan, Jennifer, Melissa, Lisa, Kaitlin, Ashley, Peyton, Madison, Will M., Grandma, Grandpa, Grandma Lorraine, Barb, Tom, Dick, Connie, Kyle, Scott, Michael, Danny, Bekah,, Brad, Will H., Tara, Alvin and Aunt Kim for the spectacular raw material!
Ben Folds is one of my all-time favorite writers and artists. I wanted to try to start recording and posting more cover songs, so I figured why not start with some of his stuff?
"Tom & Mary" is a funky little tune from the Ben Folds Five album Naked Baby Photos and it makes me happy every time I hear and play it. So, thanks to Ben for the inspiration and I hope you guys like my version!
At my latest full band show in Nashville, the boys and I covered "Lump Sum" by Bon Iver simply because it's a song I like. We ended up getting some killer sound because we played The Rutledge and there's always killer sound there thanks to sound guy Frank Sass. We also got some excellent video footage thanks to Jeff Wilson and his crew. Add in my boy Josh Reynolds mixing the audio and everyone's favorite photographer Julee Duwe editing the video and you get this beast here:
Thanks a lot to all of the above and my mantastic band featuring Shea Hardin on drums, Caleb Mundy on bass and Hans Nelson on keys. I'll be posting more videos from this show soon (but probably after I get back from the Dubai craziness. The internet here is slow like molasses and not near as tasty. It literally took me 16 hours to upload this guy!).
